I think the defining clichéd blogpost of 2010 is something like: “Hey, sorry I havent posted anything in a while, kinda been busy.” Sheesh. No more of that nonsense please. I don’t suppose anyone would care too much if every blog and podcast became erased from the face of the earth.

This blog is of course the exception, I know several lives depend on it, therefore I will continue.

Here’s what’s up. I’ve been stuck to my seat for a long time, I’ve had maybe the most productive year of my life so far, really great. And there is some big-ish news around the corner, which I cannot wait to share. There have been many changes to the way I operate in the last few months, I’m now working with an awesome team of collaborators which makes me feel very lucky. I have an assistant too, who is fending off the boatloads of email I never answer, meaning my attention is stuck to 3d land and rarely leaving it.

Ive also quit smoking and drinking, 2 weeks clean now. Im not sure how long I can hold it up, but I feel I need to maintain a ninja like focus over the next couple of months. I think that’s about all the relevant details I would like to impart at this moment. I hope you are well and being well behaved and staying away from drugs, crime and artists.

P.S. Mother London (the people who do some of the only advertising which doesn’t shit on your dignity) recently attributed the trend of graphics bare websites to this one (link) about the only complement this site has ever got! Makes me somehow glad I never studied design or typography, still feel I know zero about either.

Hey there, hope you’re having a good weekend.

We’re all busy here making animated characters do things. What joy!

Forgive the last post of rage. My video host, Vimeo, had taken down my entire account without warning. As it happens, it was an automatic response to a total of 3 legal threats from the RIAA. All of these are now being appealed and they can take me to court if they want.

It seems absurd the RIAA is doing this kind of bully tactic without permission and even against the wishes of the musicians. I was quite unimpressed with Vimeo too as I’ve paid them $120 in the last 12 months for their plus service and they still shut down the whole thing, not just the contested videos. In any case they came out on top and were as usual friendly and responsive and got the thing back online (minus 3 videos). It’s still maintaining a better signal to shit ratio than any other video site. Go vimeo!

Anyway – thats about the last I hope to ever mention about this nonsense. Nothing worse than somebody standing on a soapbox ranting about copyright instead of being busy making stuff amirite?

The best surprise was cake from my animation collaborator Max Stöhr, its an executed Cat from Please Say Something. How awesome is that?

So if everything goes wrong and in 10 years I end up downing cheap whiskey outside train stations I can always hold on to this article. I mean literally hold on to it, in some kind of plastic pouch around my neck. What am I saying 10 years? I do this already.
